I've always loved a good spicy sausage pizza, and as I've grown older, I've come to appreciate the diverse flavors different cooks bring to this dish. This recipe, which I accidentally developed during my culinary practicum back in 2004, is incredibly easy to make, using ingredients typically found in the kitchen. Every Friday, as the week winds down, my family eagerly gathers to make this spicy sausage pizza together. The delightful aroma fills our home, making it impossible to resist. Before we dig in, we capture the moment with goofy photos, jokingly saying, “Say Yehey Friday!” The laughter during our impromptu photo shoot makes it even more special. Taking that first bite is pure bliss - the combination of spicy sausage and sweet pizza red sauce creates a burst of flavors that keeps everyone reaching for more. You can try the recipe below and create your own family bonding moments at home!
Ingredients:
1 batch of pizza dough
1 pound of spicy Italian sausage
1 cup of sweet pizza red sauce
3 cups of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese
1 medium sliced white onion
2 cups of sliced fresh mushrooms
Optional: Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes
Directions:
Prepare the dough and pat it onto an ungreased 12-inch pizza pan. Prick the dough with a fork and bake at 260°C until lightly browned, about 11-13 minutes. Then set aside. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat and strain the water.
Spread pizza sauce over the crust. Top with cheese, onion, mushrooms, and sausage. Bake at 280°C until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling, about 13-16 minutes. Finish with grated Parmesan cheese or crushed red pepper flakes.
My Ultimate Review for Super-Sausage Pizza
I recently had the pleasure of making the Super-Sausage Pizza, a recipe my mother perfected back in 2010 during her time as a chef at a five-star hotel. This pizza certainly lives up to its name, featuring overloaded premium toppings that make it top-notch. While preparing this pizza may require a bit of investment due to its pricey ingredients, it's worth it for those special occasions. I really love flavors and textures and would stand out as the centerpiece of any gathering. As I bit on my first bite, the taste of the sausage blends well with the fresh vegetables and a generous layer of cheese. If you're aiming to impress at your next dinner party, you can try this recipe and be sure to reserve a spot on your table for this creation!
